PVC Lean To Shed Extension

Bringing new understanding to the term "flexible" 10 ft 1/2 in diameter PVC pipe can be bent to wedge between the ground (in this case also supported by the fencing) and the shed (which is slatted so that the upward tension is resisted and keeps the PVC pipe "secure"). An old shower curtain is the weather proofing at the access. Large plastic clothes hangers are what keep the tarp affixed to the PVC. Old fence post is used for the weather proofing at side opposite access. Nylon twine secures PVC or fencing at grommets or between slats. On 66" piece of 2" diameter PVC is friction fit between the shed and the fence to keep the weather proofing fence slats stabilized, as well as the arced PVC.

The arced PVC also holds the tarp on the shed side, pinning it to the shed surface. Everything still needs to be stabilized to a far greater degree. Holes will be drilled in PVC for securing features, as well as nails for fence slats, and PVC joining (ie. T joiners, 90deg, etc) will also be utilized for stabilization. Current investment in new materials: $1 for clothes pins, $4 in PVC pipe, $3 in cinder blocks.

I already had a piece of 2'x4' plywood, a 10ft 1/2 in diameter PVC pipe, the 2" diameter PVC pipe, and a few lg clothes pins, as well as the tarp and a shower curtain with pole gliders. In addition, had some bricks and a cinder block for flooring, and some wood (beam, fence post) and car ramps for tricycle lift and platform system. I used the remainder of the 10ft 2" diameter PVC pipe to make a weighted aspect to the shower curtain held to the curtain with small binder clips to keep the shower curtain from flying all over the place.

I told my wife to make sure not to bump into anything or the whole thing will collapse. :)

Fixed up lean to after it got out of sorts due to strong winds and storming. Lean to needs more cinder blocks beneath as plywood floor boards are starting to warp and stick up everywhere. Will probably need a wood frame as well.

Lean to needs stabilizers to keep the PVC stable and fixed with certain dimensions. PVC spacers are a likely solution but not sure yet what to use for spacers and attachment to current PVC frame.

Lean to needs a more secure attachment to the main body shed. A nail sticking out with PVC pipe slid over nail may do the trick.

Learning to be a TN Amateur Naturalist

#1 Google hit for "TN amateur naturalist" http://tnnaturalist.org/ Memphis Chapter, has good contacts from the biggest Naturalist institutions in Memphis. http://tnnaturalist.org/4-Memphis.html Promo of program from TN State Parks https://tnstateparks.com/get-involved/tennessee-naturalist-program The books I got from Memphis Library (Ben Hooks), the 500 section (574) on the 3rd floor. It will be good to reach out to some of the Memphis Chapter folks and see what I get back. Have to think through what "reaching out" means.
